Toward More Transparent Science: Public Recognition of Peer Reviewers

2025-07-02

In line with Revista Médica Electrónica 's commitment to the principles of transparency, rigor, and recognition of academic work, we announce an important evolution in our editorial process. Starting in July 2025, a new policy will be implemented aimed at highlighting the valuable work carried out by peer reviewers in strengthening the scientific manuscripts that are published.

In this updated process, authors and reviewers of all manuscripts under evaluation will know each other’s identities and will be able to communicate directly. Additionally, a significant change will be introduced: the names of the reviewers who consent to public recognition will be included at the end of each published article, as a gesture of gratitude and acknowledgment of their scientific contribution.

This initiative aims to:

  • Publicly recognize the effort and dedication of those who participate in the peer review process.
  • Encourage participation in this academic exercise, often invisible yet essential for ensuring the quality of scientific output.
  • Strengthen trust in the journal’s editorial processes by promoting a culture of shared responsibility between authors and reviewers.

It is important to note that public attribution will be entirely voluntary . Reviewers will be able to indicate at the time of submitting their evaluation whether or not they wish their name to appear in the published article. In no case will this decision affect the objectivity or quality of the peer review process.

With this measure, Revista Médica Electrónica reinforces its commitment to serving the scientific community and aligns itself with international trends seeking to make more visible and valued the collective effort behind every validated and published research article.

We invite authors, reviewers, and readers to join this initiative, aware that fair recognition of scientific work strengthens ethics, transparency, and the prestige of the academic community.
