A Mechanical Artificial Ventilation Study on Severe Polytraumatic Patients in Intensive Care Units.

A retrospective study has been carried out in the ICU(Intensive Care Unit) at the “Mario Muñoz Monroe” Hospital in Matanzas Province having the objective of knowing how mechanical atificial ventilation worked in polytraumatic patients and what werw the main complications,in addition to how the mortality rate behaved during the year 2000 in such pathology.Thirty seven clinical histories and necropsy protocols have been reviewed,concluding that chest traumas were the most ventilated ones,that the most frequent complication was respiratory sepsis,the ventilatory modality was control pressure and that the mortality rate achieved a high percentage level.When the consulting bibliography is compared,we discover that there are significant differences,resulting in experiences to organize our work and obtain better results in daily practice,thus improving the medical assistance and life quality of our patients.Downloads
