Cerebra-vascular diseases are a group of entities invariably including blood vessels, where a brain area is permanently or transitorily affected, generally by ischemia or haemorrhage. We made a descriptive study to analyze some variables associated to mortality by cerebra-vascular diseases in the province of Matanzas in the period between 1989 and 2006. The universe and sample were formed by all deceased in our province during the studied years. Data were collected on the basis of the decease certification. The province, having during many years the worst indicators of the country, improved them during the last years after a strong intervention work specially related with arterial hypertension and other risk factors control, staff qualification, and reordering hospital services. As a result, indicators were improved and are among the best of the country.Downloads
