Abstract

People have the rights to an equitable, effective and attentive care of their health, and the society, in the whole, must assure that nobody will be excluded to access the health care services, and that these services provide a qualitative care. Medical Ethics Commissions should support the managing organs, contributing that way to increase the population´s health status and to the population´s satisfaction with the services they receive. Ministerial Resolution Nr 138, issued by the Ministry of Public Health in 2009, empowered the commissions with a juridical tool facilitating their functions. The correct interpretation of the resolution and its timely application are key elements in the advisement they should carry out. In a new intent to eradicate doubts still existent among health professionals about the Medical Ethics commissions, we carried out this term. Besides that, we were especially interested in contributing to the existence of a space about bioethic themes.
