Abstract

Pregnancy is a natural and sublime process in a woman’s life, stage accompanied by physiological, pathological and psychological changes. The increase of hormonal levels, among them estrogens and progesterone indispensable for the fetus development are associated to oral diseases as pregnancy gingivitis. On its side, gonadotropin is related with nauseas and vomits that could produce the enamel erosion. This malaise brings about an inadequate behavior in relation with oral health, having a negative influence on the oral cavity; there is accumulation of dentobacterial plaque, fact that is determinant in the increment of the gingival inflammation and dental caries, what is even more serious when it is associated to disorganized alimentary habits, vascular modifications and a week immunological answer.
