Behavior of the nosocomial sepsis and their cost.January 2000-december 2001

Abstract

The infections originated during the attending hospitable process as much endemics as epidemics without an important notable present time problem for morbidity and mortality that is produced and it is and excellent livel indicator of the attending quality of the hospitality centers. A descriptive, retrospective study about the accomplishment of Nosocomial sepsis an their cost was done in the Universitary Hospital Dr. Mario Muñoz Monroy of Colon municipality, Matanzas Prov in the years 2 000 – 2001 with the objective to value the behavior of the Nosocomial sepsis and their costs the universe was established by 344 infect patients, taking as swatch 293 cases with microbiological studies, the information was gotten from the chart, epidemiological inquiries an statistic reports production on the process. Among the studied variables it was observe that the Nosocomial sepsis keeps on being a health important problem in our hospitalary centers, the rooms of the Orthopedic and Intensive Care Units were the most espencive, while the one with more incidence is Ginecobstetrics, the bigger costs belong to the middle age of life associated to the therapeutic procedures, the germs with bigger isolation were the staphylococcus whereas the most expensive was pseudomony, in account of the cost of sepsis constitute an important cost to the budget of the hospital.
