Cases having accidents in their most diverse variants as a main cause of death are frequently presented in the Provincial Service of Legal Medicine. In the present article, we expose an uncommon case of accident ending in the victim’s death. It is the case of an elder man, aged 73 years who, according to the data given by the police instruction, was holding up a window in his work center when felt from a height of around 6 meters. He was carried out to the Provincial Teaching Clinical-surgical Hospital Jose Ramón López Tabrane, of Matanzas, and entered the Surgical Service with a polytrauma diagnosis. According to the clinical record, he was conscious when arrived and referred diffuse abdominal pain. An abdominal ultrasound image was taken, finding fluid in the abdominal cavity; the left kidney was not found. An emergency surgical treatment was decided, carrying out an exploratory laparotomy and finding 4 000 cc of hemoperitoneum, several tears in the liver right lobule and the right kidney. An hepatectomy and nephrectomy were made, in common evaluation with the Angiology Service, due to the presence of lesions in the great blood vessels. The inferior vena cava and the right renal vena were sutured due to the presence of tears. He was carried out to the Intensive Care Service, and there he had a cardiorespiratory arrest; he died at 11:00 pm.Downloads
