Cuban authors' publications on dental caries, period 2012-2015. A focus bibliometric

Background: The epidemic analysis of the dental caries as problem of health has been approached assisting to multiple variables of the process health-illness, but its focus bibliometric constitutes a study method and it indexes for its valuable contributions in the knowledge of this pathology. Aim: to carry out a bibliometric study on Cuban authors' that published about dental caries during the years 2012-2015.
Material and methods: descriptive-kind bibliometric study, with temporal analysis and retrospective character. We studied the following variables: publications, year of publishing, magazines and texts where they were carried out the publications, documental typology, groups of ages recommended by the OMS, province and country where they were carried out the investigations, number authors and behavior of bibliographical references.
Results: The year with more scientific production was the 2013 (37, 9%). The magazines with more publications on dental caries were: Medical Gazette Espirituana, Cuban Journal of Stomatology, MEDISAN and Electronic Medical Journal (10, 8%); the original articles was represented 75, 7% and the county that more published it was City of Havana (17, 9%). The multiple responsibility represented 32, 4% and the index of Price obtained the biggest percentage in the year 2015 (46, 8%).
Conclusions: 37 publications of Cuban authors were revised on dental caries in the period from 2012 to 2015, most of them published in the year 2013. The journal with bigger quantity of publications were Medical Gazette Espirituana, Cuban Journal of Stomatology, MEDISAN and Electronic Medical Journal. The original articles prevailed fundamentally in City of the Havana; the multiple responsibility prevailed and the index of Price obtained bigger value in the year 2015.
