The general application of phenol in ingrown nails of at militar men Medical Headquarters

Phenol has a high bactericide action and this is why it has been used since many years ago to manufacture desinfectants and to sterilize surgical wounds.In the Paediatric Hospital of our province it was used for the first time as the only indication for ingrown nails in children.This had a good impact with economic efficiency and evident social value.Taking into account the high statistic rate of this entity in the medical headquarters of the military men,among our soldiers,officers and recrints we decided to carry out its general application thus evaluating its efficacy and behavior in adult age. To do this work we selected the patients who arrived to the MININT provincial Clinic with the diagnosis of ingrown nail,and with informaed written consent form signed by the patient and the assistance physicain.Phenol was applied around the affected ungual edges as many times as necessary.Patients had to use open,untight footwear and should would be pre-established since the moment of signing the written consent form for case inclusion.Downloads
