The objective was to explain the emergence and development of the specialty of Dermatology in Matanzas. An extensive search was carried out for facts and testimonies of professionals linked to dermatology, whose contributions are evidenced in the development of this discipline in the territory of Matanzas. In addition, anecdotal references and individual and collective experiences were taken to make a thread from its origins, in 1966, to the present day. Over time there have been no scarce achievements and expansion of the coverage of these services, which are characterized by the high scientific level of their professionals. In this historical approach, brief semblances of the eminent physicians who gave rise to the chair and the continuators of the specialty are presented.
