Transversalization of the endocrine-metabolic contents in the training process of the specialist in Medical Oncology

Introduction: Implementing the transversalization of endocrine-metabolic content in the training process of the specialist in Medical Oncology benefits the development of theoretical-practical skills in comprehensive care, with a holistic vision of the person with associated oncological and endocrine-metabolic diseases.
Objective: To evaluate the transversalization of endocrine-metabolic contents in the training process of the specialist in Medical Oncology.
Methods: An educational research with a mixed approach was carried out, in the period between January 2022 and December 2023, at the Teaching Oncology Hospital Conrado Benítez García, in Santiago de Cuba. A survey was conducted among 22 residents of Medical Oncology and 12 specialists. A single variable was declared, transversalization of the metabolic endocrine contents. A questionnaire consisting of nine questions was applied and the percentage was used as a summary measure.
Results: In the state of the transversalization of endocrine-metabolic contents, the cognitive and healthcare dimensions are more affected.
Conclusions: The state of the transversalization of the endocrine-metabolic contents in the training process of the specialist in Medical Oncology is not adequate, so it is pertinent to design a didactic strategy to obtain in the future a competent specialist in healthcare, with a holistic vision.
