Registry and mobile application for the neurological assessment of traumatic brain injury in pediatrics by nursing

Introduction: Traumatic brain injury in children continues to be a serious health problem worldwide. Nursing care in its context plays a crucial role in improving clinical outcomes and quality of life.
Objective: To design a registry and mobile application for the neurological assessment of traumatic brain injury in pediatrics by nursing.
Methods: An analytical, observational, qualitative-quantitative, and longitudinal research of technological development was conducted in the Intensive Care Unit of the Provincial Pediatric Teaching Hospital Eliseo Noel Caamaño, Matanzas, in the period from March 2021 to June 2023. The universe of the study consisted of 34 nurses, and the sample consisted of 27 at the beginning of the diagnosis and 22 at the end of the study.
Results: In the first application of the knowledge measurement instrument, most of the professionals showed a low level, a fact that improved once the training was completed. In addition, it was found that the specialists made a positive assessment of the theoretical aspects of the registry and the mobile application.
Conclusions: A neurological assessment registry and mobile application was designed that standardizes nursing care in pediatric traumatic brain injury in critical patients care units, which allows adequate orientation and, in turn, a guide in acting immediately in the face of possible complications.
