Abstract

The hemophilia is a hemorrhagic hereditary disease produced by the factor VIII (hemophilia A) or factor IX (hemophilia B) activity decrease, that is inherited with recessive character linked to the sex. The diagnosis is established based on the familiar antecedents, and the patient's clinical manifestations with hemorrhagic episodes since early stages of life. The severity was directly related with the factor activity in the plasma. The certainty disease diagnosis is made through the laboratory finding of the decrease of factor VIII or factor IX activity. Objective: Presenting a clinical case of hemophilia diagnostic debut in a patient aged 1 year old, who entered as child abuse syndrome with a giant occipital hematoma and an acute severe anemia, who previously was treated with abuse lesions, without the presumptive diagnostic of the disease. The definitive diagnosis was confirmed in the institute of hematology by the laboratory finding of factor VIII activity decrease.
