Abstract

Breast or natural feeding,is the most appropriate way of infant feeding and the best adapted by newborn babies,this should be the only food first months of life because among other advantage is sterile and plays an important protective role against infections since many antibodies on defences run from mother to child; its composition is so well balanced with the baby nature that the infant does not need to be additionally given water no fruit jueces as long as breast feeding be exclusive.Having prior criteria that the population,in general,acts more by popular tradition in feending new born babies we carry out the investigation using a wide sample of new born infants during the months of march,april and may 1999 in Matanzas province who at the time we gathered all data,were 12 and 14 months old.We could verify that in the majority of cases the breast feeding exclusively is not fulfilled for the recomended prior,on the other hand,acute respiratory and diarrheal diseases are most frequent in tose children who had been breast fed during a lesser period of time.
