Abstract

Nicolas Gutiérrez Hernández is remembered as one of the biggest and more estimated physicians of the Cuban history. Pioneer in the introduction of advanced medical procedures during the 19th century, he also was the artificer of the foundation of the Academy of Medical, Physical and Natural Sciences of Havana.
