The elimination of the zinc treatment in an Acrodermatitis Enteropathica case.

Abstract

The Acrodermatitis enteropathica is an illness of low incidence, it is about a recesive autonomic genodermatosis. Its clinics manifestations are varied and it is considered penta symptomatic with skin lesions, digestive symptom, alopecia , nails dystrophia as well as psychic disturbance, photophobia and mental depression. In this case the patient is 29 years old and she has been treated in the Dermatological Provincial Service of Matanzas since she was 6 months of age, due to skin lesions around the mouth, vulva and the anal canal, as well as in the elbows. This patient was diagnosed as bearer of congenital acrodermatitis enteropathica , that is why she has received zinc treatment since that time, with some incomes in her child ness and adult stage. In this opportunity the drug was not in their hands and due to that there was no treatment since two months, appearing skin lesions, so she had to be in our hospital. A treatment with: zinc sulfate was indicated, but the effects were scarce, that is why we consider of great importance the presentation of this case to the medical practice, taking into consideration the different clinical manifestations , which can only be remitted with the described treatment.
