Abstract

To develop this study we took 8 people deceased in the municipality of Cardenas during 2005, with the diagnosis of bucal cancer, pertaining to the health areas of the municipality. To evaluate theses cases we used mainly the risk factors appearing in the PDCB remission form, smoking (tobacconism) and alcoholism and also the rest of the risk factors related with it. We could verify the tight relation existing between these risks and the deceased persons, where the multifactorial theory of cancer formation has been present. While the last national rate we have (2004) is 5.2 x 100 000 inhabitants, the rate in Cardenas municipality in 2005 was 7.7 x 100 000 inhabitants. Therefore, it is necessary to multiply the efforts of all the people related with the PDCB in this municipality to diminish this displeasing rate, that has increased, because in 2001 it was 5.1 x 100 000 inhabitants in our municipality.
