This work was made in the laboratory of the Ortodoncy Department of the Estomatologic clinic “13 de marzo”, of Cardenas municipality, incentivated by the lack of 0.028 mm and 0.032 mm wire. This circumstance pulled us to find a new form of maximum saving the existent wire and increasing the yielding of the resources. We have achieved that substituting the wire screen by an acrylic lingual blocker. That way, the wire we used in screens may be used now in new removable appliances. We began to produce these Hawley appliances with lingual blockers in 2000, and up to the first semester of 2005 there were installed 811 of them. Up today there were not made Hawley appliances with wire screens. In surveys applied to patients and orthodontists they expressed that these appliances are more comfortable, have less breakings and better perform.Downloads
