Introduction: Currently, dental dyschromia is a great aesthetic concern; in this sense, it is necessary to study new whitening agents to be used during rechromia.
Objective: To evaluate the effect of oral OLEOZON® on tooth whitening and color stability in devitalized single-rooted permanent teeth.
Methods: A pre-experimental, multicenter study was carried out, with pre-test/post-test design, in patients with a diagnosis of dyschromia treated in the Dentistry departments of the South University Polyclinic of Moron and the Teaching Polyclinic Julio Castillo of Chambas, Ciego de Ávila province, Cuba, during January 2020 until September 2023. Descriptive and inferential statistics were used.
Results: Total and partial whitening was achieved in 63.8% and 36.2% of the teeth, respectively; The mean number of treatment sessions was 4.11 ± 1,418. At three months post-treatment, 83.0% of the teeth presented a stable final color and 17.0% an increase in whitening, while at six months 70.2% maintained a stable final color, and there was an increase and loss of whitening by 21.3% and 8.5% respectively. A positive effect of 100% on teeth whitening and 91.5% on color stability was achieved.
Conclusions: Statistically significant results were obtained that demonstrate that oral OLEOZON® constitutes a therapeutic alternative in dyschromia; Stable total or partial whitening occurred in all teeth at three and six months after treatment.
