Abstract

The quality of life of older adults is crucial due to the aging population. The objective of this research is to analyze how health programs, accessibility and mobility programs, and government initiatives affect the quality of life of older adults. For this, studies published between 2019 and 2024 were used. It was found that the quality of life of older adults, according to the World Health Organization, is based on the perception of their situation in life. It also considers cultural factors, values, and expectations. As the population ages, the prevalence of chronic diseases increases, making access to adequate healthcare services crucial; subjective well-being can improve health despite declining cognitive and physical capacities. Factors such as poor health, lack of support, and inadequate living conditions can negatively affect their quality of life. Comprehensive action including public policies that guarantee accessible healthcare services, gender equality, and that adapt interventions to specific cultural contexts is essential to improve infrastructure and transportation to ensure the independence and well-being of older adults. It is concluded that government policies are essential to improve the quality of life of older adults. Ensuring continuous support and improving accessibility and mobility, especially in rural areas, fosters their autonomy and social inclusion.
