Abstract

AIDS is the consequence of the HIV, infecting many cellular strains, mainly those expressing at their surface the coreceptor CD4. Precisely for being the Immune System its main target, it is able of inducing a remarkable cellular immunodeficiency in infected persons, inexorably leading to the beginning of many opportunistic infectious diseases that, as indicated by their definition, opportunely took advantage of the unfavorable situation created. Taking into account that AIDS is considered the Pandemic of the 20th and 21 st centuries, its social impact and the importance of its knowledge for health professionals, we decided to make a review of information on the opportunistic diseases that more frequently affect the AIDS patient.
