System of professional improvement activities for teaching on ageing in the Medicine undergraduate studies

Introduction: To ensure medical and social care to elder people according to the needs of each patient, the health care sector has the mission of training dedicated and specialized human resources from the undergraduate levels of medical sciences specialties, and in a continuous and sustained way until the postgraduate level.
Aim: To design a system of activities of professorial improvement for the teaching about the ageing in the undergraduate level of Medicine.
Methods: The system of activities included several stages: diagnostic of the problematic situation from the documentary review and the exchange with teachers, design, assessment and final proposal. The research was carried out in the period from March to November 2022. Methods of the theoretical and empirical level were used, as well as statistics.
Results: There are few teaching or scientific methodological activities that include professorial improvement in issues related to ageing. The plans D and E of the medical studies show limited proposals for teaching activities aimed at the training of students in the approach to care for the elderly.
Conclusion: The system of activities will allow raising the knowledge of the professors in the topics of ageing, to increase the scientific activity and to develop the science and innovation in consonance with the current demands of the Cuban medical university.
