A revision on the historical evolution of intraocular lens implant is carried out since Dr.Harold Ridleys highly important scientific contribution of performing the first moderns surgery in extra-capsular extraction and the artificial lens implant as a substitute to the removed crystalline lens.In addition, a brief description that refers to the implants development in Cuba is presented and it is outstanding the level reached during the 1980-90 decade as a result of the development programs for all medical specialties in Cuba Public Health Ministry.
