Abstract

During the period form January 1st to December 31st,1999 a prospective and descriptive study was carried out taking as a working universe all elderly patients who are enrolled in the Family Physician Consultation Offices from the Milanés Street Polyclinic. They had a psychiatric examination by the investigative in or order to find out or not the presences of mental diseases and in addition, some demographics variables in this past of the population, have been determined.
Results are exposed in pictures and conclusions and determinations are given. In the study group, the Alzheimer Dementia is the most frequent within the organic mental disorders and 90-99 years old was the age group in which this disease is most frequently seen. All data were compared with the reviewed bibliography.
