Abstract

Penis carcinoma is a rare disease that only represents lees than 1% of all malign neoplasic in men, with utmost frequency after the sixth decade of life. It has been noted that this disease etiology is related to chronic irritating effects produced by the smegma, specifically in non-circumcised men. During the period of April 1997 to November 2000 eight patients were diagnosed as having penis Epidermoid carcinoma, thought the primary lesion biopsy, preoperative antimicrobial treatment was carried out and later a surgical treatment with External Consultation follow-up.
The mot frequently type of lesion found was the papillary exophytic. In all cases the histopatologic variety of epidermiod carcinoma was reported. In 7 cases(87,5%) the primary treatment used was partial penistomy.
Circumcision and wide local excision was carried out in one case (12,5%),lymphodenectomy in two patients(25%),chemotherapy was indicated in case(12,5%) and 2 patients died(25%).Penis Carcinoma is potentially curable if it is treated at an early stage. This illness although it is not frequent, it is detected in advanced studied, requiring surgical approach(patial penistomy,inguino-crural lymphadenectoy) and occasionally chemotherapy.
