Abstract

A type of celular death that takes place during the development of vertebrate and invertebrate organisms has been given the designation of Apoptosis, however it is not until recent years that celular death due to apoptosis is recognized as a process of relevant importance in several physiological as well as pathological events.
Since the physician, specifically that who is devoted to assist severely ill patients, should keep himself well and current informed about the physiologic processes occurring in them, a revision on latest themes is necessary.
Apoptosis has been found in several diseases whose production mechanism has not been totally cleared.

Subjects may arrive to a critical state through several aggressive mechanisms as a result of a collapse in the secondary outbreak of many pathological stimuli that may alter the apoptosis physiologic process which would produce or perpetuate the tissue damage and cell death.

The apoptosis study can open the doors to the design of new therapeutics strategies by the manipulation of its genetic regulation and with it the possibility to modify the state and pathology evolution where those are altered.
