Abstract

New technologies for the treatment of Genetic Information(biochips, LIMS systems, genomic data basic, data minority systems, and genic expression quantification techniques) are producing a commotion in the biomedical investigation and during the next few years it is foreseen that they will make possible the development of a new medical practice based in the patient genetic individuality.
This new paradigm affects the research of new drugs, the clinical diagnosis, the public health and also the basic biomedical investigation .
The goal of this work is to offer a panorama about the state of art in these new technologies on the treatment of genetic information reviewing its impacts in biomedical research and, in the clinical practice, the ethical, legal and social aspects.
