Hipertensión arterial en la senectud: vivencias en el ámbito rural y desafíos para la enfermería

Introducción: La hipertensión arterial prevalece más en la etapa de envejecimiento, cuando los pacientes enfrentan dificultades debido a cambios fisiológicos y emocionales. La mayor asiduidad y austeridad de las medidas preventivas oportunas pueden ser de mucha utilidad.
Objetivo: Interpretar las vivencias de pacientes con hipertensión arterial durante la senectud en el ámbito rural, así como los desafíos para enfermería.
Métodos: Estudio cualitativo, exploratorio, de diseño fenomenológico-hermenéutico, que se efectuó con 15 pacientes mayores de 60 años de la sierra peruana. Los datos se recopilaron mediante entrevistas semiestructuradas; la guía de entrevista contó con validez de contenido. Las subcategorías y categorías que explican el fenómeno estudiado se generaron mediante codificación inductiva y se presentan en una red semántica.
Resultados: Las categorías resultantes fueron: vivencias desagradables en el curso de la enfermedad y tendencia emocional para un afrontamiento favorable de la misma; las subcategorías: modificaciones globales por la enfermedad, limitaciones para realizar actividades, adherencia ineficaz a las medidas terapéuticas, actitud para contribuir al control, acompañamiento y apoyo familiar, afán de mejorar la cotidianidad y creencia en Dios como soporte emocional. Otros estudios coinciden en que la interiorización de la enfermedad facilitará la participación activa de los pacientes para asumir cambios en su vida diaria y adaptarse a la nueva realidad.
Conclusiones: Los pacientes manifestaron disconformidad con los efectos provocados por la hipertensión arterial en las diferentes esferas de su vida; no obstante, están prestos a contribuir y recibir el apoyo necesario con el fin de mejorar sus condiciones de vida.
