Abstract

A study to evaluate the new formula efficacy of acupunctural points for performance of surgical interventions with Surgical Acupunctural Analgesia(AQA) in the limbs has been carried out. Two hundred patients were chosen and electively operated of pathologic lesions in their upper extremities, divided in two groups to which they were ascribed through a table with randomized figures: group I(Control) to use the Brachial Plexus Blockade by auxiliary mode and group I(study) to use the this new formula of the AQA acupunctural points, where the small instestine-16 and heart-1 are involved. Both groups were pre-medicated with 25 mg prometazine, and the local anesthetic used was o.25% 100mg Bupivacaine. In both groups hemodynamic stability was maintained, being pain the most frequent side effect.
We conclude that the new AQA acupunctural point formula is efficient in healing certain surgical situations in the upper extremities.
