Short history of family medicine foundation in Cardenas
Keywords:

The idea of training a new kind of physician in Cuba, for giving an integral medical care, with a clinical, epidemiologic and social approach, from the Primary Health Care, became real in January 1984, with the inauguration of the Family Physician and Nurse Plan, in the Polyclinic of Lawton, La Habana. Its extension to the rest of the provinces began in 1985, setting this novelty program up even in the most isolated corners of the Cuban geography. In the province of Matanzas, the beginners were in the municipality of Colon, and four years later, the first family physician consultations were inaugurated in Cardenas. The aim of the current work was exposing a short history of the family medicine in the municipality of Cardenas.Downloads
