Defect by malnutrition. Presentation of one case at the “Amiguitos Africanos” (“Little African Friends”). Day Care Nursery.

Abstract

A follow-up of a pre-term and low birth weight infant until his third year of age was carried out in this work; measurements had been taken in additional to his nutricional status ever since Puericultura Office Visits until the present time. Patient was a three year old male, black who was born with low weight (2200 gr ) and pre-term at 36 weeks gestational age and was breast fed exclusively until the fourth month of life in which complementary feeding was introduced, until that age his nutricional status had been normal. Comino from a family with social and economic problems, complementary feeding had been defective, since his 6th month of life he begins to gain a little amount of weight arriving the 10th percentile at 11 month old. In his 2nd year of life an Allergic Bronchial Desease appears until present with frequent asthma crisis and associated preumonias, that have also affected this child`s nutricional status.Currently he has a slight mixed Energetic and Proteic Malnutrition, since only less the 20% of his weight has been affected. He is also a carrier of Acquired Nutricional Inmunodefficiency Disease Síndrome.
