Abstract

Painful manifestations in temporamandibular joints are frequently noted in dental practice.A prospective and descriptive study was carried out to 15 patients with temporomandibular joint pain in the "27 de noviembre" Dental Clinic in Colón Municipality,Matanzas province during the april 1st to October 31st,2002 period;one control group and two study groups randomly taken werw created,conventional treatment was applied to the control group,lhelium-neon laser radiations were applied to the first group and a combination of both treatments to the second group, pain index was used to measure the efficacy of the three types of treatments.The treatment with helium-neon laser radiation, while the conventional treatment contributed to a low percentage.Beafore these obtained results,the combined laser therapy with the conventional treatment is recommended for this pathology.
