Abstract

The family represents an institution of universal character that always has been present in the different space-time relations. That important social nucleus is analyzed in this article from an interdisciplinary perspective. The author´s criteria about the significance, kinds and functions of the family are given with the aim of exalting and locating it in the central position it should always maintain in any society.
