Hepatic traumatism. Its impact on surgery mortality

Our experience in surgery management in the hepatic traumatism and associated lessions is presented,we carried out a retrospective,descriptive and observational study in which the clinic history of 33 patients hospitalized due to hepatic traumatism in the period between january 1998 and december 2002 were reviewed. The following variables:age,sex,production mechanism of trauma,classification,operations done, associated lesions and morbimortality were analized. 30 men and 3 women with an average of 25,3 years were identified. The most frequent lession cause was traffic accident with 19(57,5%).It was not performed a conservative treatment in any case.The associated lession were 24(72.7%) and the most affected intrabdominal organ was the spleen 37,5%.Injury control surgery was carried out sucessfully in three patients,(30%).The mortality rate was 24,2% directly proportioned to the severity of the hepatic lessions and the organs associated with it.Downloads
