A prospective-descriptive study has been carried out in 107 patients to whom a hepatic biopsy punction was done in José R.López Tabrane and Commandant Faustino Pérez" clinical- surgical teaching hospitals and also in Mario Muñoz Monroe" Militar Hospital localed in Matanzas, between january 1998 and december 2003 by clinical diagnosis of chronic hepatitis disease which histologically were concluded as chronic hepatitis, having the knodell semiquantitative index applied to it.A re-evaluation was performed applying the Schever index. The histologic changes showed that the most frequently seen histologic alterations were the portal inflamation, the lobule inflamation and necrosis. When applying the Scheuer index the diagnoses most often emitted were chronic hepatitic B and mild hepatitis C with portal fibrosis ,and crytogenetic hepatitis and cirrhosis.Alterations were described that had not been included in Scheuer index, but having etiologic importance:steatosisMallorg bodies and lymphoid follicles, specifically. The main clinical diagnoses of chronic hepatic diseases, histologically proven were;viral chronic hepatitis B and C ,alcoholic chronic hepatitis and non-alcoholic steatohepatititis. The Scheuer index became more efficient when evaluating the cases since it offered us more complete and gradually suggestive diagnoses.Downloads
