Historical evolution of mentoring in preparing nursing professionals

The figure of the mentor in Nursing, because of its social charge, gets vital importance, because it contributes to the integral formation of this specialty professional. The mentor plays a leading and active role in forming and producing knowledge, abilities and skills, promoting the development of their performance. In this sense it was necessary to reveal the evidences sustaining the mentor figure, from the point of view of forming Nursing professionals. For that it was exposed the antecedents and timeliness of the mentor function, as an actor of the pedagogical process in preparing Nursing professionals in Cuba. It was emphasized the role plaid by this figure in the historical development of the specialty.Downloads
