Accident or maltreatment? A question of the present times
Keywords:
children, accidents, non-intentional lesions, infantile maltreatment.Abstract
The attention to lesions a patient presents should be complemented by the concern for the course of the events. We reviewed the concepts of non-intentional lesions or accidents and infantile maltreatment, epidemiology, more frequent types, and risk factors related with the afore-mentioned concepts. We described the more frequent locations of the non-intentional lesions and of those suggesting to be inflicted, and also the radiological characteristics of the inflicted lesions in dependence of their level of specificity. It is considered that the primary care physician needs to know the aspects treated in the article, allowing a better quality in the given care.Downloads
