Abstract

It is necessary to think deeply about our acting as health professionals. It also should be the way followed by our students. We have, on account of our vocation, a special commitment: to take care of life. To do it with all the dedication needed, we have to fulfill several requirements and ethic principles characterizing a truly professional attitude and accurate interprofessional relations: deference, respect, loyalty and mutual assistance. Confidentiality is a duty recognized in the Hippocratic Oath. We have to admit it is frequently disrespected and this disrespect lessen the value of professionalism. We think it is necessary to analize4 the circumstances facilitating this situation and to alert about the lack of knowledge on how we should react in answer to the confidence given to us. In our educative work, achieving the closest linkage between technical-scientific knowledge and ethics should be a constant concern, to form at the end, a truly human scientist.
