Some philosophic considerations on mammography in the detection of breast cancer.

Abstract

Among the programs of the National Health System, the National Program of Breast Cancer Investigations is of greatest importance because breast cancer is the main cause of women death in our province. Aesthetics, as a category studied in the concept of beauty, which in Aristotle's opinion is based upon harmony, proportion and measure, is broken in women subjected to a radical mastectomy. The woman with a breast cancer diagnosed in a late stage, needs a mutilating surgical treatment of her breast gland, which in turn, affects her spiritual (psychological) sphere and induces a self-defeating influence in her social relations. The medical practice in preventing this disease is the usage of the Investigative Program in women population. It helps the precocious diagnosis of the breast glands hidden masses through mammography in all women older than 50 years old or with known risk factors. The promotion of every health program is very important. In our study, auto examination of breast glands and the war against toxic habits (smoking) or non-breastfeeding, are measures on which we base to develop a general culture in the community bearing to its strengthening and to the high development of health in our society.
