Abstract

A study is carried out on the causes originating vertigo, more frequently in women, and on the association of this symptom with other diseases, especially menopause and obesity. It was taken into account that menopause as well as obesity, are accompanied by systemic damages like cervical arthrosis, osteoporosis, and other that can cause vertigo. A development, descriptive study was carried out, where the matter of study was all the women attending the otolaringologist office referring vertigo. The conclusions are: that the most frequent peripherical cause was the bening paroxistic positional vertigo; the vertebrobasilar insufficiency was the central cause of major incidence and we can point out that the menopause-vertigo relation as well as obesity among the studied population demonstrated a great evidence.
