A descriptive study was carried out among the patients attending the Emergency Service of the Universitary Hospital “Faustino Perez”, of Matanzas , from October to December 2005, diagnosed with narrow-angled primary glaucoma and treated with Neodymium Yag Laser (NdYag Laser). A 50 microns spot was used. The used energy was 2-3 mJ as impulse 1, from 2 to 5 impacts. The predominant age group was from 65 to 70 years. Received impulses and total laser energy was the minimum to perforate the iris and to allow the communication between posterior and anterior chambers, trying to apply it always in a crypt. Two patients had iris bleeding, rapidly stopped with ocular occlusion and compression. All the patients evolved satisfactorily. It was not necessary an invasive surgery in any patient. Nd Yag Laser iridectomy has replaced the classical peripheric iridectomy. It is a very effective, non-invasive method, easy to practice.Downloads
