Abstract

Infections during pregnancy occur in 3 % of all causes of malformations in newborn infants alive. Among those biologic agent that have been most associated to teratogenicity is the toxoplasma gondii, causal agent of Toxoplasmosis. During pregnancy this infection has been related to miscarriage and congenital malformations. The risk magnitude has been related to maternal disease severity. Taking into account the importance that the maternal and fetal welfare results to our health system and the necessity of our physicians to know about this type of cosmopolitan infections, we carried out a compendium of up - dated information on this theme.
