Abstract

Cuba has a deep political will of carrying out health promotion programs. The Ministry of Public Health and the Ministry of Education play an important role in this field. The authors carried out a bibliographic review aimed at systematizing the theoretic fundaments that are at the basis of the teacher’s initial training and the treatment given to health promotion and addiction prevention at this stage. A group of insufficiencies was identified in Cuban educational institutions requiring a serious approach for the teachers to perform actions of addictions prevention.
