Interscapular hybernoma. Presentation of a case.

The hybernoma or dark fat lypoma is an infrequent benign tumor. Until 1983 there were reported only 50 cases in the world literature. Nowadays 100 cases are reported in the literature, constituting 1 % of tumor masses in adults. For the first time, Merkel described a tumor of the dark fat, and called it pseudolypoma. The hybernoma occurs mainly in adults, but the patients with hybernoma are, in average, younger than those with lipoma. The most frequent localization of the hybernomas is the scapular and Interscapular regions, but there is a great number of cases originated in the thigh. Other frequent localizations are the thoracic wall, the back, the armpits regions and the groin region. Clinically, hybernomas are slow-growing, painless tumors that are discovered much time before they reach sizes requiring the patient's and surgeon's attention. They are usually well-defined, soft, and movable with dimensions between 5 and 10 centimeters of diameter. Nonetheless, there have been reported even 18 cm tumors. The differential diagnosis should be done with the rhabdomyoma of adults and with the grain-cell tumors. In our work, we mention a case of hibernoma located in the Interscapular region, superficial, of near 10 cm , of soft consistence, without fluctuations, without color nor local temperature changes, painless and without adherence to deep planes.Downloads
