Abstract

We carried out a descriptive, applied investigation of 306 families living at the Community “2 de Diciembre” of Cardenas Municipality , from July 2005 to January 2006, with the objective of knowing the families´ functioning, identifying its dimensions, and also determining these families´ structure and crisis. As working instruments we used the questionnaire of familiar structure and crisis and the test of familiar functioning perception. The last one measures the cohesion, harmony, communication, adaptability, affectivity, and role and permeability dimensions. There was a predominance of functional and moderately functional families; the nuclear familiar structure was the most numerous. We did not find any relation between the family crisis and the kind of familiar functioning.
