Abstract

We carried out a review on depression in older adult with the objective of exposing important aspects related with the diagnosis, evolution, prognosis and treatment to contribute to a wider comprehension of this mental disorder in old population, taking into account the constant increase of this population. We arrived to the conclusion that depression is an entity of relevant importance, because it is one of the most frequent mental disorders at this age.
