Abstract

To know the kind of milk feeding and the deforming oral habits, we carried out an analytic, transversal study about the Exclusive Maternal Breastfeeding until 6 months age in a universe of 130 children regularly assisting to the Day Care Center “Amores de la Patria”, in the municipality of Cardenas, in 2005. We interviewed the children´ mothers to know the time Exclusive Maternal Breastfeeding lasted and the deforming oral habits of their children. We made a physical oro-dental examination to the children, and observed the presence of the habits. The statistical processing was made in the computing program EPI INFO 06; we determined Mantel-Hansel's Chi 2 and obtained a significant statistical association between the digital suction, pacifiers and nurse bottles sucking and the early ending of the Exclusive Maternal Breastfeeding.
