Mesenteric cysts are not very frequent, benign abdominal tumors whose etiology is still undetermined. These injuries can occur at any age and their clinic presentation includes: acute abdomen, mechanical intestinal obstruction or abdominal tumor. In this work we present a case of omentum cyst, histopathologically confirmed. It deals with a five-months-old feminine patient with health backgrounds that is admitted to our center due to a fever episode of seven days of evolution , vomits and piodermitis injuries, and also a cervical swollen abscessed ganglion (cervical abscessed lymphadenitis) (N. del T. El primer término fue dado por los autores en su traducción. El Segundo por el traductor) that later developed a generalized sepsis by Escherichia coli. During the physical check up, it was confirmed an abdominal mass palpable at the right flank level and having well defined edges. An abdominal Ultra Sound was made and it confirmed a cystic image. Finally, a pedicular cyst located at the distal end of the omentum, with an obscure content, was removed by surgical treatment. An anatomopathologic study corroborated that it was an omentum cyst, being favorable the postsurgery evolution. The low incidence of the disease and the wrong belief that it is a benign and asymptomatic process has contributed to the scarce interest for its knowledge.Downloads
