Abstract

We stratified the 14 municipalities and 40 health areas of the Province, using the incidence of the period 2000-2006 as unique indicator, to identify the territorial priorities favoring the strategy of the tuberculosis elimination in Matanzas. A considerable quantity of territories reached the goal of elimination, while two municipalities reported rates of 10 cases per 100 000 inhabitants; these results allowed us asserting that the elimination iniciative is fullfilled in our province. The stratification tools allowed us to identify that the two most vulnerable areas have a high poblational density with risk facts.
