Abstract

Disasters have been associated to the history of the human kind. Nature has not stopped of recollecting men its destructive power. Known impact and the negative consequences of the different kinds of natural disasters have progresively determined the necesity of the mitigation, and of preparing all the society to act - before, during and after in local surroundings, in the nation or during international missions. The begining of these natural phenomena is lost in the dark of the times, and no previsible scientific progress will be able of eficacious protect us in the future. So, we have to take measures to limit them, because it is not possible to eliminate them. This is a reviewing work, where we expose the consequences of some natural disasters on the society, and also the role of the society in preventing and facing these phenomena.
